Not a few home brewers can attest to the reliability and sturdiness of the stainless conical fermenter. Needless to say, the stainless conical fermenter is the fermenter material of choice not only of the commercial breweries but of home brewers as well. Its high cost is well worth the service you can get from your stainless conical fermenter. The stainless steel construction is durable and is scratch resistant. There is now observed change in flavour that results from the interaction of the chemicals with the stainless steel material. It could be cleaned fairly easily without dangers of breakage unlike glass conical fermenters. It also does not discolor from leaving the fermenting liquid in the container for longer periods of time.
These conical fermenters come with a cylindrical body with a conical bottom angled at a 60 degree slope to allow the dead yeast cells to fall into the opening where it could later be flushed out. There is also a type of stainless steel conical fermenter that is called a uni-tank that allows the brewer to condition his mixture in the same conical fermenter instead of needing to transfer the mixture into a separate conditioning tank. This development in the conical fermenter further made the task of beer brewing a whole lot more convenient for home brewers.
